Costume Decisions and why
For our trailer we used a Yuri as our main protagonist so this was the primary focus for our costume, while our protagonist Michael we were more subdued on what costume he should be wearing. We split the Yuri's costume into 4 main elements.
Hair: For the hair we wanted the Yuri to have long scraggily hair so we casted someone who had long black hair and when filming we soaked it in water. This created the long scraggily effect which is the typically iconic Yuri look. We also put the hair over her face hiding her true appearance making her more mysterious and therefore more scary.
Dress: We chose a white nightgown style dress as it appeared old fashioned which can be heavily associated with death and therefore it was easier to make more scary. The white dress was also supposed to symbolise innocence of a young girl who has been turned evil by the circumstancecs surrounding her.
Skin: We used dry glue and paint to give the Yuri grey and green skin to symbolise a rotting corpse as she is dead. Dried glue was used to simulate peeled skin once again showing aspects of a rotting corpse.
