SLASHERS
Many Slashers are highly rated on IMDb, the first Halloween(1978) with a rating of 7.8/10 which is one of the highest ratings for a Horror film. However despite this slasher's today are nowhere near as popular as they used to be as they soon became over saturated and therefore of lower quality and therefore less popular, this is shown by a more recent slasher film I know what you did last summer(1997) which is rated 5.6/10 which is generally a poor rating showing the increasing unpopularity of the genre. Another example of this would be My Bloody Valentine(2009) which has a rating of 5.5/10 on IMDb, overall there are less today.

Paranormal
One of the most famous and first paranormal films while also being one of the most highly rated with a rating of 8/10 is The Exorcist(1973) , though today they are more popular than ever and the sub genre is a broad one so many variations can be adapted making it a good sub genre to use. Another Paranormal film is the 2nd film in the Paranormal film in the collection it has a rating of 5.7/10 this shows overall there beginning to become less popular showing that they are becoming over saturated, but are open to many creative ideas as it involves a lot of fiction.

Zombie
Zombie genre films mostly seem to all revolve around the same thing and have little variations but yet seem to be the most popular and most consistence with high rating especially in recent years with Dawn of the dead(2004) with a rating of 7.4/10, what makes this more impressive is that its a make of a film with the same name which came out in 1978 though that had a slightly higher rating of 8/10 but compared to other remakes from other sub genres this far more successful showing the formula for this sub genre is easier than most to replicate. Other high rated zombie films include Dead Snow(2009) rated 6.4/10 and World war Z(2013) rated 7.1/10

PSYCHOLOGICAL
The physiological sub genre normally centres around the fear of ideas and the unknown and less upon physical violence these normally effect people after watching the film more, its quite a broad sub-genre and can normally incorporate itself into other horror sub genres. They have become more popular in recent years and isn't as saturated as other sub genres but is one of the harder to pull of successfully examples include The Ring(2004) which has a rating of 7.1/10 on IMDb and Saw(2004) which has a rating of 7.7/10 showing that they are exceedingly popular despite being a less mainstream sub-genre.
