Real Trailer Analysis
In order for us to create our own Teaser Trailer we have to develop our understanding of what a trailer should include. Therefore we are going to analyse several trailers, chosen by people we have interviewed, to see what makes a good Teaser. Here is a list of our findings:

Oculus (2014)
The Oculus (2014) trailer makes it very clear that the source of the torment in the film is coming from the mirror making it the antagonist, this is by it being in almost every shot whether its taking up the whole shot, in the background or the characters image is being reflected in it . The editing is also very quick with the majority of the shots lasting no more than 1-2 seconds, these mostly showing people in distress while the next goes back to the mirror, this is to show that the root of there misery is caused by the mirror. The death caused by the mirror is symbolised by the blood dripping from the mirror, not only that but it also shows that the mirror is alive. For most of the trailer the soundtrack is a creepy girl who sounds soulless reciting creepy lines which vaguely outline the mirror's motives creating a creepy atmosphere.

Carrie (2013)
The trailer begins with an ariel sweep of the town in which Carrie lived, showing the destruction and devastation of a seemingly normal place. The blazing fires and rubble connote that this is the result of what happened that night and is actually a recount of the earlier events. The soundtrack is layered beginning with the faint sound of a woman singing, which sounds slow and eerie when juxtaposed with the image of the town. This is layered with the sound of people speaking about Carrie and the tragedy she has caused. Several different voices discuss the motive behind Carrie's destruction. The image begins to zoom faster, as the soundtrack increases in pace, and stops on a close up image of Carrie's blood-covered face. This again connotes that she is the reason behind the fire. This Teaser really leaves the viewer guessing as to what will happen in the film, as not much is given away.

The Ring (2002)
The trailer opens with a VHS being recorded/ being played. It then jumps to a corridor with static breaks as though the VHS is old and not working properly. It then jumps to a child watching a blank screen, which symbolises loss of freedom and the panicked look of the mother shows that she knows what has happened as she looks at the tape with terror on her face. The trailer continues with fast editing of shots that revolves around the video tape yet we only see a suggestion of what actually kills the people that watch the tape, adding to the allure of the film.

THe EVIL DEAD (2013)
The Evil Dead(2013) trailer consists of quotes from the trailer to outline the storyline, its pace increases throughout the trailer as by the end each sot only lasts a second or two until the last shot which is supposed to contrast the shots before it by hanging on the image of a girl slicing tongue in half probably because this is the most visually disturbing scene in the trailer and one they want you to remember. The Music and style of the trailer is resemblance of an action movie being dynamic and focusing on the visual effects but unlike action films its focus is on the gore and with a big emphasis on blood. Like the shots the pace of the soundtrack increases throughout the trailer becoming louder and far more prominent and distressing relaying the images shown before coming to an abrupt end as the title appears.

sinister (2012)
Sinister (2012) this trailer is much slower paced as typical horrors, as the speed stays slow all the way up to the last 15 seconds where the pace picks up to show the horror side of the film which had been building up throughout the rest of the trailer. The trailer tells us a lot about the killer and the setting of what he does, But the trailer doesn't tell us much about the family and the man who seems to be investigating the house, from things he says you believe he is some sort of reporter or investigator which is why he takes so much interest into these clips and short films.(CB)

Paranormal Activity (2007)
Like most trailers Paranormal Activities speeds up as the trailer goes along so by the end it consists of fast paced shots. The whole trailer is based around the reaction of the audience as although it does show parts of the trailer that are scary it focuses more on the reaction of the audience in an attempt to emphasises its claim to be one of the scariest films of all time in a way challenging you to see if you can handle it.(W.T)

Saw (2004)
Saw (2004) was a trailer which used various quotes which then ended up becoming the main lines from the whole series, the pace of the shots is keeping it fairly slow as they explained the story, but then they highly increased the speed of the shots when it came to showing the torture of the people, this was to make sure nothing was spoiled. It shows us thee killer but within his character within his games known as jigsaw not revealing who he is but just how he operates. (CB)

Saw 2 (2005)
Saw 2 (2005) continued from the original after it was a huge success similar to the first trailer they used the mixture of showing the torture as well as jigsaw, they kept the same pace of slowing building up especially when it came to killing off some of the characters they still manage not to give away any spoilers. they showed the sense of well of a group of people being trapped within a building as they are being poisoned as the point of the game this time to to get an antidote. There is also a shot of what seems to be someone discovering the operation room for this game, but we don't know who it is as it could be the killers true identity. (CB)
Scream (1996)
Scream (1996) begins with a lot of slow pace editing as it sets the story by using clips from the opening title sequence. In this trailer we see quite a lot of Ghostface which is unusual for trailers as the villain is often alluded to but not actually see them. As the trailer concludes, the pace of editing increases to give the the effect that something significant is going to happen in the film. (NL)
